The annual Wilderness Road Ride takes place Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. A scenic and historical adventure through southwest Virginia’s beautiful New River Valley, the ride follows part of Daniel Boone’s Wilderness Road. This is a ride for the whole family to enjoy, with something for everyone — 5 routes ranging from a 14 mile relaxed journey for novices, to a 78 mile challenge for the fittest cyclist.
The Wilderness Road Ride is part of the Cycling Double Header weekend which includes the Mountains of Misery century ride put on by the New River Valley Bicycle Association. To find out more about this exciting event go to www.cyclingdoubleheader.com.

Detailed maps and cue sheets will be available at the start of the ride.
Fully supported aid stations will be positioned at miles 12, 34, 36, 48, and 60 as well as the Start/Finish location. Aid stations will be supplied with Hammer Nutrition products Heed and Hammer Gel as well as plenty of water and other snacks.
Please register ahead of time, either online or by mail, to ensure your spot in this event. Registrations received before May 15th are only $20 for adults and $15 for children under 18. Registrations received after May 15th will assess a $5 late fee. You may also register on the day of the event at the start-finish area, which opens at 6:15 AM. Event T-shirts are guaranteed to all pre-registered riders including children. To register, use the links at the upper left edge of this page.
All riders must check in at the start/finish registration table to receive participant numbers, route cue sheets and goodie bags and to sign liability waivers.
Start your ride any time between 7:00 and 9:00 AM. All 78 mile riders are asked to begin riding before 8:00 AM. 9:00 AM will be the last official start time for all events. Any rider beginning after 9:00 AM will be considered unsupported.

Please remember, this is not a race. All traffic laws, signals, and signs must be obeyed.
Personal SAG vehicles are not allowed.
The Wilderness Road Ride starts at the Dedmon Center at Radford University.
From Blacksburg: go west on Prices Fork Road (VA-685), turn right on Peppers Ferry Road (VA-114), left at Lee Highway (US-11), turn left (Main St.) after crossing the bridge on US-11, then turn left on University Drive, crossing the bridge to the Dedmon Center at the bottom of the hill. Park in the lower lot, below the Dedmon Center.
From I-81:Exit 109 to Radford, follow Tyler Avenue (VA-177) into Radford, turn right on Main St. (US-11), turn left on University Drive and cross the bridge to the Dedmon Center at the bottom of the hill. Park in the lower lot, below the Dedmon Center.
